The Valley Grande City Council had a light agenda at its meeting on Monday.

Valley Grande Building Inspector Sam Smitherman discussed the needed changes to the Code Book, which gets updated every three years.

Smitherman said he and Valley Grande City Treasurer/Clerk Janet Frazier went over changes for the 2017 code book, the city’s current one. The 2020 Code book will be due in six months.

Dallas County Sheriff Office Chief John Hatfield attended the meeting and gave an update on the three service dogs, including two purchased by the city of Valley Grande. Hatfield said the dogs are doing well.

“We appreciate everything your department does and giving us an update,” Valley Grande Mayor Matt Dobbs said.

Attending the meeting were Dobbs, council members Ronald Sawyer, Lamar Morgan and Jimmy Johnson. Absent were Tammy Troha and Tim White.

The next Valley Grande council meeting will be held Aug. 5 at 6 p.m. at Valley Grande City Hall.
