Ellwood Christian’s Bufford shines in North-South All-Star Basketball Game

- Ellwood Christian’s Justin Bufford drives through the lane for a contested layup in ECA’s 69-59 win over Winterboro in the sub-regional game. ECA advances to the regional tournament in Montgomery.
Dallas County shined in the North-South All-Star Basketball Game this week.
Ellwood Christian Academy’s Justin Bufford scored 19 points and grabbed five rebounds as the South prevailed 88-75 at Alabama State University. Bufford is The Selma Times-Journal’s basketball player of the year.
Keith High forward Arayvion Jones, a member of the Selma Times-Journal All Dallas County team, also competed for the South squad.
Antwan Burnett of Sidney Lanier scored 16 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, earning MVP honors.
The North still leads the all-time series 48-29.
In the Girls’ game, the North won 65-56. North MVP Farrah Pearson had 10 points and five rebounds.
Southside High coach Rand Smith coached the South All-Stars. Selma High’s Rodericka Parker and Kylan Brown of Southside played for the South squad. Parker is The Selma Times-Journal’s girls basketball player of the year. Brown made the Selma Times-Journal All Dallas County team.
