The Keith High Grand Reunion has awarded two scholarships to a pair of college students.

Alabama A&M University freshman Justin Walker and Troy University student Harriet Winchester each received the Simon T. Hatcher scholarship from the organization. Walker and Winchester are former Keith High graduates.

Winchester, who graduated from Keith in 2016, will be a senior on the Lady Trojans’ women’s basketball team next year.

As a junior, Winchester averaged 8 points a game and one of the Sun Belt Conference’s top three-point shooters.

Walker, Keith High’s Valedictorian in the class of 2019, said he appreciates the college funding. Walker will major incommunications. He finished with a 4.0 Grade Point Average. He also played in Keith High’s band.

“I’m grateful for the assistance, I feel great about it,” Walker said.

The scholarship is named after Hatcher, who was the first Principal at Keith.

Dale Bryant, the Grand Reunion’s organizer, said the funds came from the 2017 reunion, who met in Pensacola.
