Selma High offensive tackle Jeremiah Wright ended the recruiting suspense a week before his senior year begins.
Wright verbally committed to Auburn this weekend during a Tigers’ recruiting cookout on the Plains. He had 20 family members on the visit. Wright also said Tigers offensive line coach J.B. Grimes played an important role.
“I had a talk with my mother, grandmother and other family members about it,” Wright said. “I went ahead and chose Auburn.”
The 6-foot-5, 325-pound has five other Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) scholarship offers: Tennessee, South Alabama, Georgia Tech, Troy and Tulane. Wright said the recruiting suspense, though, is far from over.
“I am still open for recruiting,” Wright said.
Wright said the recruiting process hasn’t changed him.
“I feel like a normal person,” Wright said. “I won’t get a big head because there’s always someone better than you ready to take it away.”
Wright will have two opportunities to sign a national letter of intent.
The early NCAA football signing period will be held Dec. 19-21, 2019. The regular football signing day is Feb. 5, 2020.
