Ellie Adams enjoyed her run as the Distinguished Young Woman of Dallas County 2019.
Adams’ one-year reign ended on Aug. 3 when Brianna Miles of Selma was crowned the Distinguished Young Woman of Dallas County 2020. Adams was gracious in welcoming Miles as the latest DYW and wished her success.
The former Morgan Academy student said it was an honor to serve as DYW during the 2018-2019 school year. She now joins the club as “Has Beens,” a distinction for former DYW members.
“I’m grateful for having the opportunity to represent Dallas County, I’ll cherish these moments forever,” Adams said.
Adams, who will attend the University of Alabama this fall, credited her family. She’s the daughter of Bart and Stacey Adams. Her brother is Harrison Adams, the SGA President at Alabama.
“I want to thank my mom and dad for pushing me,” Adams said. “I want to thank my brother, Harrison, for setting the bar so high. I can’t wait to be with him at Alabama in Tuscaloosa.”
Adams was an exceptional athlete at Morgan Academy. Adams helped the Senators win a third straight AISA State Tennis Championship and made The Selma Times-Journal’s All Dallas County Girls’ basketball team. She also played in the AISA All-Star basketball game.
