This Saturday, Next Generation Movement and the Craig Homeowners Association will host a Back to School Bash for the children of the Craig Field Community from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Craig Recreation Building.
Children will be afforded the opportunity to stock up on free backpacks, paper, scissors, glue, folders and all the other things children will need to complete their required school work this fall.
In addition to school supplies, children will be able to enjoy free hotdogs and hear motivational speakers from A.M.E. Zion Church.
Frankie Hutchins, an organizer fo the event hopes that Saturday’s Back to School bash will serve as more than just an opportunity to recieve school supplies.
Hutchins wishes to inform the children who attend about the importance of being free of violence and drugs as well.
“We are doing what we can in order to steer them in the right direction,” she said.
Hutchins and other event organizers are well aware of the troubles that young people face in today’s society and hope that the event will provide the resources to make those troubles a little easier.
“In order to change our community we must reach our children,” she said. “They are our future.”
