The Dallas County Board of Education met for their regularly scheduled meeting in the Commission Chambers at the Dallas County Court house Tuesday evening.
The board was scheduled to have their annual budget hearings Tuesday, but they were rescheduled for September’s board meeting.
During the superintendent’s administrative report, the board unanimously approved to enact UPSLOPE, an electronic disciplinary system for school staff, per Dallas County Schools Superintendent Hattie Shelton’s request.
According to Shelton, the cost of the program is $3,200.
Shelton believes the program will be effective.
Dallas County Schools Chief Financial Officer Sandra Purdie stated that all the accounts in the monthly bank reconciliation reports were balanced.
“Our operation account balance is $3,671,742.15. Our child nutrition account balance is $362,876.48. Accounts payable, $1,296.40 and payroll clearing $36,295.86,” said Purdie.
Purdie then stated there is $3,552,012.50 in the general fund which is $1,374.249 above the month reserve.
“So if we keep things going like they’re going we’re going to make the one month reserve and have a little left over.”
DCBOE Chairman Leory Miles commended Purdie on her hard work with Superintendent Shelton the last few months.
“You’re doing good Ms. Purdie,” he said.
