Morgan Academy gets its first victory of 2019

Running back Holt Utsey rushed for 246 yards and scored four touchdowns as Morgan Academy defeated Patrician Academy 42-27 on Friday night.
It was the Senators (1-2) first win of the season.
Utsey scored on runs of 20, 64, 52 and 37 yards for the Senators.
Quarterback Andrew Thomas threw for 98 yards and a touchdown pass to Josh Brown.
“It was a good win tonight,” Senators coach Josh Thacker said. “I’m proud of the bounce back week we had and the focus on fixing the problems from last week.”
Linden 40, Keith 8 : The Bears dropped their first loss of the season, falling on the road.
Quarterback Jared Edwards’ 1-yard touchdown run was the Bears’ only score of the game.
“We didn’t execute and Linden wanted it more than we did,” Bears coach Anthony Lumpkin said.
Montevallo 48, Dallas County 20: Quarterback Calvin Griffin threw two 60-yard touchdown passes to Marquavious Pullom and Jayln Callens and also added a 2-yard touchdown run for the Hornets (0-2).
“Offensively, I was pleased with our effort and execution,” Hornets coach Heath LeVert said. “Defensively, we have to tackle better. If we don’t, I don’t see how we can be successful.”
Verbena 22, Ellwood Christian Academy 8: Chico Madison’s 95-yard fumble return for a touchdown was the only points for ECA.
“I thought we played hard, but we’re still inconsistent on the offensive and defensive lines,” ECA coach Migueal Catlin said.
Jackson 51, Meadowview Christian 0: The Trojans’ fell to 0-2.
“Jackson executed their offense well and we didn’t execute,” MCS coach Bob Taylor said.
