Morgan Academy appeared headed toward its second straight victory. The Senators were in control and led Lee-Scott 20-7 at halftime.

But Lee Scott outscored the Senators 21-0 in the second half en-route to a 28-20 victory on Friday at Morgan Stadium.

Morgan Academy falls to 1-3 and Senators coach Josh Thacker made no excuses after the game.

“Lee Scott made great adjustments in the second half and we came out flat,” Thacker said. “We’ll find out about  ourselves when we watch film Monday.”

Running back Holt Utsey shined in defeat for the Senators, rushing for 215 on 28 carries and scoring two touchdowns and a two-point conversion.

Utsey scored on runs of 75-yards and 11 yards as the Senators built a 20-7 halftime lead. He had 145 of those yards at intermission.

The Warriors (2-2) took control in the second half. They scored twice in the third quarter to grab a 21-20 lead. Thomas Whatley scored for the Warriors.

Wilks Fisher connected with Whatley on a 8-yard touchdown pass midway in the fourth quarter to put the Warriors up 28-20.

Morgan Academy had two chances to possibly tie the game late, getting inside Lee-Scott’s’ 20-yard-line twice, but the Warriors’ defense stopped the Senators.

“I’m shocked we shut them down in the second half,” Warriors coach Robert Maddox said. “Utsey is a heck of a player and it’s unbelieveable our defense stopped him.”
