Wednesday morning, students across the nation gathered around their school’s flag pole for prayer and fellowship to participate in See You at the Pole.
According to Elkdale Baptist Church Youth Pastor J.B. Brown, See You at the Pole is a national prayer movement started by students almost 25 years ago.
Wednesday night, Elkdale held a See you at the Pole Rally bringing together schools from all around to take the concept of student led prayer to the next level.
“We’re just grateful be able to partner with other churches and youth ministries to lead the charge of Dallas County and other county’s students praying around their school’s flag pole for their classmates, their teachers and the nation,” said Brown
As a youth leader, Brown is excited by the students coming together to lead their peers in prayer.
“It puts me on cloud nine,” said Brown. “The best part of See You at the Pole is that it’s student led. Just to see the students get up and get everybody excited about prayer is great.”
Brown sees the event as a “pick-me-up” for the students who participate.
“It’s overwhelmingly encouraging for them,” said Brown.
Ross Jones, a sophomore at Maplesville High School, confirmed Brown’s declaration.
“It really makes you feel good that people care about you and want to pray with you and pray for the school,” said Jones.
“You can actually feel that people care and want you there,” said Chilton County High School sophomore Matt Wells.
