The Selma Housing Authority (SHA) launched its “Build A Bed” program Wednesday.
The SHA will install 25 new beds at its four housing areas: GWC Homes, Valley Creek, Rangedale and Phyllis Heights. GWC received eight beds.
SHA Executive Director Kennard Randolph said it’s part of the organization’s mission to provide beds for its residents.
“It’s an excellent opportunity to let the residents know we care about them and that no family will go without a bed,” Randolph said.
Gospel Tabernacle Pastor John D. Grayson, who assisted with the program, praised the SHA for taking care of its residents.
“It’s a fantastic and new innovation from Kennard Randolph,” Grayson said. “He has come up with something out of the box.”
Rev. Lawrence Wofford of the Black Belt Community Foundation (BBCF), who also helped with the program, said it’s important to take care of the residents.
“It’s a wonderful idea and a wonderful way to give back to residents in need,” Wofford said.
