WILL is a fairly new organization, founded by Selma native, Sheyann Webb-Christburg, who, as an 8-year-old girl, marched across the Edmund Pettus Bridge on Bloody Sunday.

Webb-Christburg founded the organization in April of 2017 to bring together women from diverse backgrounds to focus on empowering, motivating, inspiring, education and mentoring women of all ages.

“Leadership is one of the things we prioritize with our organization,” said Webb-Christburg. “We’re trying to develop women leaders because this is a women’s movement around the country. Women used to serve, in many capacities, as co-pilots. But now they’re stepping up to the plate to become pilots.  Women are reaching many heights in terms of becoming leaders.”

The conference will have many speakers to educate about leadership including Jevonnah Ellison, a purpose strategist, leadership coach and speaker, Tiffany McCord, an Alabama District Judge and Martha Hawkins, the entrepreneur behind Martha’s Place Restaurant in Montgomery.

“The great thing about this conference is that each of these women brings something different to the table,” said WILL Public Relations Chairperson Gennise Burch.

The conference will also include a panel consisting Tasha Scott, a life coach, leadership trainer and speaker, Jessica Alexander, founder of Boss Babes and Operation Evolve, Melissa Johnson Warnke, Director of Communications for the Alabama State Bar, Samarria Munnerlyn Dunson, a healthcare compliance attorney, Ashley Brandle-Jernigan, Owner of JBD Hospitality, Public Relations and Communications and Karen Drinkard, a social media practitioner.
