Three juveniles escaped from the Dallas County Juvenile Detention Center Wednesday.
According to Dallas County Chief Deputy John Hatfield, the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) received a call around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday about three juveniles escaping the center.
Hatfield said one juvenile was caught, while the other two juveniles escaped into the wooden area. Hatfield didn’t release the juvenile’s name because of their age.
Hatfield said the State Department of Corrections, two dogs and a state helicopter were brought in to assist with the search. He said the search ended at 10 p.m. because the helicopter can’t see at night through the woods. But the last place the dogs tracked was the Matthew Lane area around 11:45 p.m. Wednesday.
A white van was stolen on Matthew Lane and Hatfield said the DCSO suspect the two juveniles stole the vehicle. Hatfield said the stolen van was later found in Demopolis.
“A warrant is out on the juveniles,” Hatfield said. “The juveniles aren’t from here. We believe they’re attempting to get back home.”
