Jared Edwards turned Keith High senior night into his personal showcase.
The senior accounted for three touchdowns as the Bears beat Francis Marion 30-12 on Friday night at J.V. Caldwell Stadium.
Keith High (4-4, 2-3 Region 3, Class 1A) can clinch a state playoff berth with a win at A.L. Johnson next Friday.
Edwards, LaQuinton Johnson and Jeffery Callens were the Bears’ seniors who were honored before the game, along with the cheerleaders and dance squad member.
Edwards threw a 25-yard touchdown pass to Jayln Jones, scored on a 62-yard touchdown run and added a 35-yard interception return for a score. He finished with 210 all purpose yards, including 100 yards rushing.
“I was real motivated to play well on senior night and get our team one step closer to the state playoffs,” Edwards said.
“Jared stepped up for big time tonight,” Bears coach Anthony Lumpkin said. “He’s a tough kid and will be missed next year.”
Jamal James’ 55-yard fumble return was the Bears’ other touchdown.
Keith led 8-0 after one quarter and 14-0 at halftime. The Bears were in no danger of losing.
