Morgan Academy, Meadowview Christian School reach Volleyball Regional

Morgan Academy and Meadowview Christian School each advanced to the Regional Volleyball Semifinals.
The Lady Senators swept Bessemer Academy 25-19, 25-8 and 25-19 in round one. MCS knocked off North River Academy 25-14, 25-10 and 25-16.
“I’m so excited for the girls,” Morgan Academy coach Jessica Lovelady said.
Morgan Academy will host the second round on Thursday, playing Autauga Academy at noon. The Lady Senators will play in the finals at 4 p.m. with a victory. A loss puts Morgan Academy into the consolation game at 2 p.m.
MCS travels to Wilcox Academy in a second-round contest against Southern Academy on Thursday at 1:30 p.m.
Morgan Academy and MCS both advanced to the Elite 8 in their respective classes, which start Monday at Montgomery’s Cramton Bowl. The second round determines the seedings.
“The girls have worked so hard, I’m excited for them,” MCS coach Katey Smith said.
Class 6A: Selma High fell to Stanhope-Elmore in the Area 5, 6A tournament.
Class 4A: Dallas County lost to Sumter Central in the Area 5, 4A tournament played at Greensboro.
Class 3A: Southside was swept by Montgomery Academy in three sets at the Area 5, Class 3A tournament.
Class 1A: Ellwood Christian Academy and Keith High were both eliminated from the Area 5, Class 1A tournament. Sweet Water swept ECA in three sets. Linden beat Keith in four sets before losing to Sweet Water in the finals.
