Water Avenue was bustling with people Thursday evening as people made their way to the 8th Annual Alabama River Chili Cook-off sponsored by Black Belt Benefit Group and Reliable Cadillac GMC.
Each year, the BBG selects a local non-profit organization to be the beneficiary of the evening proceeds.
This year, the money raised from the event benefitted EasterSeals of West Central Alabama.
“I’m really happy with the turnout,” said BBG Executive Director Devon Gray. “It’s such a well supported event. There’s so many people who gave up their time to participate, it really means a lot to us.”
Heny Brick/Big River Car Wash took home the first place trophy for this year’s cook-off for the third year in a row.
First Cahaba Bank won second place and Tally – Ho won third.
First Cahaba Bank also won the people’s choice award and Bush Hog won most spirited.
