Selma needs votes for free music series

According to a press release from Blackbelt Benefit Group (BBG), Selma is in the running to bring a 10-week, free live music series to the Queen City next fall.
The music series would be made possible by a Levitt AMP Grant, sponsored by the Mortimer and Mimi Levitt Foundation, a national foundation dedicated to strengthening the social fabric of America through free, live music.
Should the BBG receive the grant, the organization will receive $25,000 in matching funds to produce their own Levitt AMP Music Series – a free, outdoor concert series held at the city’s outdoor amphitheater.
The grant was created by the Levitt Foundation to serve small to mid-size towns with populations of less than 400,000 people.
In order for BBG to become one of the 25 finalists to compete for the grant and bring the free concert series to the people of Selma, they need community support to get as many online votes as possible.
“We are thrilled to have this opportunity to utilize the amphitheater and create a new source of entertainment for our community to enjoy,” said BBG Executive Director Devon Gray.
BBG asks the people of Selma to visit levittamp.org/vote to vote for the Queen City as a recipient of the grant.
“We are really hoping everyone takes the time to vote and encourage their friends and family to vote as well,” said Gray. “Can you imagine what it would be like to have people out enjoying a free concert each Saturday for 10 weeks? It could be huge for our community.”
