The incident occurred on Feb. 10, 2018 in the 1400 block of Water Avenue, as the Selma Police Department (SPD) noticed a subject drinking beer. As SPD approached the subject, officer noticed he threw the beer at a subject and attempted to run.

The SPD got out of the patrol unit and blocked him from running and detained him. Officers identified the subject as Wagner and noticed he threw down the sack of marijuana and beer. The officer discovered Wagner had prior convictions for second-degree marijuana possession. He was taken to the Selma City jail for booking and then to the Dallas County Jail.

“Johnny was as high as a kite, he was lucky Benjamin Franklin didn’t tie a string to his foot,” Jackson said.
