George Grathen Humphryes, Sr. age 75 of Montgomery and formerly of Selma passed away on Sunday, January 12, 2020 at Hillview Terrace Rehab Select in Montgomery. He was born in Alabama on February 11, 1944 to Perry Humphryes and Naomi Sanders Humphryes. He was a firefighter.

He is survived by his children, Cindy Anderson, Dena (Michael) Clayton, Ronda (Mark) Smith, Debbie (Donnie) Veach, and George Grathen Humphryes, Jr.; 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Billy Jack Humphryes; and a host of numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Perry and Naomi Humphryes; and siblings, Perry Humphryes, Jr., Bud Humphryes, Alma Ann Stephens, and Wayne Humphryes.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Staff of Hilview Terrace for the exceptional care given to Mr. Humphryes during his time there.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 17, 2020 at 11 a.m. from the Selma Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. James “Jimbo” Small officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home. Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Wannabe Rescued, P.O. Box 725 Selma, Alabama 36702, No Limit Church, or Crosspoint Christian Church.
