Although details are scarce, the Selma Police Department (SPD) has confirmed that there was an industrial accident last week that killed a man.
According to multiple people, the incident happened at Miller Lumber Company, located at 500 Hooper Drive in Selma, last Tuesday morning.
Miller Lumber Company did not respond to a phone call or multiple emails requesting comment, but SPD Chief Kenta Fulford confirmed that an employee was “fatally injured” at a local business on the 500 block of Hooper Drive last Tuesday morning.
Fulford did not name the man who was killed and did not give details of how the man died.
Likewise, Dallas County Coroner William Dailey declined to give a comment, stating that he preferred for the company to discuss the incident before the coroner’s office commented.
Fulford said the SPD’s Criminal Investigation Division responded to the scene and determined that the incident was accidental before turning the investigation over to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
OSHA’s Michael D’Aquino confirmed that the agency is investigating an incident that occurred at Miller Lumber Company, but stated that the department does not issue interim or preliminary reports regarding an ongoing investigation.
The Selma Times-Journal will update this story as soon as OSHA or Miller Lumber Company releases more information.
