Financial Audit Draft leads Valley Grande City Council Meeting

A Financial Audit Draft highlighted Valley Grande’s City Council meeting on Tuesday.
Valley Grande Mayor Matt Dobbs said the city remains in great shape to make budget for the 2021 Fiscal Year, which starts Oct. 1.
“We’re well within the budget, we’re 20 percent under budget and that’s with 10 percent in reserve,” Dobbs said.
Valley Grande city Treasurer/Clerk Janet Frasier said the meeting with the Accountant went well.
In other news:
Councilman Lamar Morgan said several residents have complained about darkness on Highways 81 and 22. Morgan also said he’s going to discuss the situation with a county official and Alabama Power Company sometime next month to put up a street light.
Public Safety Director Boyd Pugh said the sewer didn’t pass for the first time in four months because of a weak sample.
The council meeting got moved to Tuesday because President’s Day holiday fell on a Monday, their regular scheduled date.
The next council meeting will be held at 6 p.m. March 3 at Valley Grande City Hall.
