The Alabama Independent Schools Association (AISA) has suspended all sports for three weeks due to the coronavirus threat.
Baseball, softball, golf, tennis, soccer and track are postponed until April 6.
Morgan Academy’s golf and tennis teams are the defending AISA state champions. The Senators also field track, softball, baseball and soccer teams.
Meadowview Christian School fields baseball and softball teams.
Morgan Academy Athletic Director and head football coach Josh Thacker said he understands the uncertainty surrounding the coronavrius break.
“We’re kind of in uncharted territory here, lots of broken hearted young men at various schools around the state left with no real answer,” Thacker said. “My heart goes out to them and also the decision makers trying to keep our kids safe. It has to be tough on both ends.”
MCS headmaster Bob Taylor, the head football and basketball coach, said AISA officials informed schools that they will re-evaulate the status of spring sports after classes resume next month.
