Mrs. Dorothy Carter Jackson, is the widow of Mr. Willie James Jackson and was the first of five children born to Rev. Dr. Nathan Mitchell Carter, Sr. and Mrs. Lille Belle Hicks Carter on June 7, 1934 in Selma. She departed this life on March 24, 2020 at Capitol Hill Healthcare in Montgomery, Alabama. Ms. Jackson bloomed wherever she was planted: Home, Tabernacle Baptist Church, Selma University, Payne Elementary School, Burwell Hospital as well as her involvement with other religious and civic organizations.

Mrs. Jackson is the sister of the late Dr. Nathan M. Carter, Jr. and Rev. Dr. Harold A. Carter, Sr. She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Marian Carter (Walter) McKinnie, Fishers, Indiana, Ms. Blanche Carter Thrash, Atlanta, Georgia, and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Jean Roane Carter, Baltimore, Maryland along with several nieces, nephews and friends. Mr. Andre Milton was a long time loving and caring Godson. Devoted caregivers included Ms. Estella Tarver and Ms. Jessie Young. Mrs. Dorothy Carter Jackson was a magnificent flower whose legacy will forever beautify the world!

Graveside services are scheduled for Saturday, March 28, 2020, 11 a.m. in Serenity Memorial Gardens with Rev. Charles Lett officiating and directed by Randall Miller Funeral Service, Inc.
