Thomas Morris recently landed a golf scholarship at Snead State Community College.
At SSCC, Morris will be reunited with former Senator golfer David Cothran, a freshman on the golf squad. SSCC is located in Boaz, a three-hour drive from the Queen City.
“I’m pumped and excited to be playing golf at Snead State,” Morris said.
The AISA has extended its suspension of spring sports until April 17. Morris said it’d be disappointing if the Senators won’t have a chance to defend their state golf title.
“It’s very upsetting,” Morris said. “I can almost guarantee that we win it this year with the talent we have.”
Before the Snead State scholarship opportunity, Morris was planning to Auburn University in the fall. He received a $5,000 scholarship from the Selma QB Club last November.
“I expected to attend Auburn after graduation, but God had a different plan for me.”
Morris is also eager to attend the community college
Morris was a standout football player at Morgan Academy, starting at center and defensive tackle. As a senior, Morris earned All Dallas County honors by The Selma Times-Journal.
At Morgan Academy, Morris is an honor student. He has a 3.8 GPA and 22 ACT score.
“I’ll miss the social part and all of my friends at Morgan Academy,” Morris said. “Being a senior at Morgan has been an amazing time and I’ll never forget it. I loved every second of my time at Morgan Academy.”
