The Selma Housing Authority has closed its main office to the public until further notice.
”The well-being of our residents is of utmost importance to my team and I, we take this moment very seriously and have put guidelines in place to stay safe,” SHA Executive Director Kennard Randolph said.
The SHA has four housing areas: Felix Heights, GWC homes, Valley Creek and Rangedale.
Randolph, who became executive director two years ago, said if residents lose their job or get cut in salary, they speak to a complex manager to get the rent adjusted.
Randolph also said that the maintenance department is only addressing emergency work orders. If anyone in a resident’s household has, suspected to have, or been exposed to the Coronavirus, residents must contact the main office immediately at 874-6271.
SHA Residents and their visitors or guests cannot engage in any activity, which violates the State of Alabama’s stay-at-home executive order or the curfew imposed by the city of Selma. The SHA order includes having social gatherings of more than nine people or any amount of people where a consistent distance of at least six feet cannot be maintained. Randolph said that anyone violating the law will either be fined or evicted.
