LIFT Ministries made a donation to inmates at the Dallas County Jail on Father’s Day weekend.

LIFT Ministries donated 220 t-shirts, underwear, socks and sanitizer and 150 hygiene kits that contained toothpaste, toothbrush, comb and shampoo as part of its Father’s Day Man Up Initiative.

LaTanglia Williams, LIFT ministries organizer said the program’s purpose is to inspire men, women, churches and communities-inside and outside of prison to support and collaborate in the restoration of those affected by incarceration.

“The response to this effort has been overwhelming,” Williams said. “I thank each and every single person that donated to this cause. This was a total community team effort.  If it wasn’t for the donations I received from men, women and local churches, this event would not be possible.”

Dallas County Sheriff Mike Granthum said he’s grateful for LIFT Ministries’ donations to the inmates.

“It means a lot to get donations like this,” Granthum said. “We appreciate them stepping up. The donations show the inmates that somebody’s thinking about them and they care.”

Williams launched LIFT ministries last month. She ministers to the inmates at the Dallas County Jail every Wednesday and regularly speaks at churches throughout Dallas County.

Williams is the daughter of Dallas County Commissioner Curtis Williams and Dallas County Career Tech Center Technical Advisor Jerolene Williams.
