Dallas County remains winless on the season.

Marbury beat the Hornets 28-22 on Friday night at  Martin Field in Plantersville.

The Hornets fall to 0-2 on the season.

Marquavious Pullom returned an interception for a touchdown and finished with two picks. Keith Thomas scored a touchdown. Joshua Brown and Carlton Underwood Jr. connected on a score.

Dallas County coach Heath LeVert said turnovers were crucial.

“A few mistakes early that forced us to use our timeouts in the second half really cost us,” LeVert said.

LeVert said he likes the Hornets’ effort.

“We played hard and ran the ball with authority,” LeVert said. “The attitude of this team is different. They want to compete and their effort is not lacking.”

Dallas County hosts Bibb County, ranked second in Class 5A next Friday at Martin Field in Plantersville.
