Northside Baptist Church held its third food giveaway on Thursday at Vasser’s Mini-Mart.

Free meals were given away to Dallas County residents. They were also given copies of bible verses.

“We’re trying to reach people and let them know about Jesus Christ,” Northside Baptist member Kathy Smith said. “We want to feed them spiritually and with a hot meal.”

Vasser’s is owned by Jamie and Missy Calvert, daughter of Northside Baptist member Gene Hisel.

“It’s all about love and helping the community in time of need,” Hisel said. “The community has always supported us and we want to give back that support to the community.”

Hiskel said another food giveaway will be held at Vasser’s Mini Mart later this month.
