The Dallas County Sheriff Office (DCSO) held its annual Thanksgiving food drive on Monday.

The DCSO teamed up with Northside Baptist Church, Dave’s Market, ESA and VFW for the Thanksgiving Food Drive. Boxes were delivered to 16 different families by DCSO officers, who picked up boxes at Northside Baptist Church. Vouchers for free turkeys were also given to those families for pickup at Dave’s Market.

“The community has done so much for us and it’s our turn to give back,” Dallas County Sheriff Mike Granthum said. “People are going through tough times in the holiday season with COVID-19. It’s a need out there.”

Kathy Smith, a member of Northside Baptist Church and Women Mission Union (WMU), said she appreciates what Granthum and the DCSO as well as the Selma Police Department are doing to keep the community safe.

“We like to show our support to our First Responders,” Smith said. “The DCSO has been awesome.”
