The Selma Police Department has identified a suspect in a horrific shooting on Black Friday.

According to Selma Police Chief Kenta Fulford, 28-year-old Roderick Harrison is the suspect in the shooting that killed Wendell Pullom, 24 and Johnny Bonner III, 29, at the 2600 block of Tipton Street early Friday morning.  Both died from gunshot wounds. Fulford added that the SPD and DCSO were both on the scene.

“Officers and deputies were dispatched to the 2600 block of Tipton Street in reference to shots fired,” Fulford said. “Upon arrival, officers discovered two black males in their 20’s lying on the ground unresponsive. Both victims suffered gunshot wounds and were pronounced dead on the scene.”

It was the second of two shootings that occurred during the Thanksgiving holiday.

Selma has 10 murders from shooting deaths this year, surpassing last year’s total of eight.

The first shooting took place Thanksgiving night around 11 p.m. at the 1000 block of Fourth Avenue.

“Officers responded to the Emergency Room in reference to a 28-year-old black male who had been shot in the upper chest,” Fulford said. “He was treated and transported to a Tuscaloosa hospital.”

Fulford said the SPD is investigating the incident. He did not reveal the victim’s identity.
