The Selma Police Department is investigating a weekend shooting that left two people dead.
According to Selma Police Chief Kenta Fulford and Dallas County District Attorney Michael Jackson, the horrific shooting occurred between King Street and Water Avenue around midnight Saturday.
“Officers responded to King Street and Water Avenue in reference to two gunshot victims at midnight,” Fulford said. Upon arrival, officers discovered an unresponsive black male and female both suffering from gunshot.”
Fulford did not identify the victims.
“At this time, it is believed to be domestic, more information will be forthcoming,” Fulford said.
Selma has 12 murders from shooting deaths this year, surpassing last year’s total of eight.
“It’s very tragic for the families,” Jackson said. “They need a lot of prayers during this tragic time.”
