Ansel James Wheeler, Jr. (Jim) passed away at his home surrounded by family on Sunday, December 20, 2020.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at New Live Oak Cemetery in Selma, with Glover Funeral Home directing.

Jim was born on December 16, 1941 in Montgomery. He attended the University of Alabama where he was affiliated with Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. Jim was an avid Alabama football fan.
He loved hunting and being outdoors. He enjoyed his Sundays ushering and cooking breakfast at church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Col. And Mrs. Ansel James Wheeler, Sr., and sisters, Mary Amelia Wheeler and Cynthia Ann Wheeler.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mary Drue; three daughters: Drue Miller (John), Birmingham, Margaret Cunningham (Robb) Fairhope, and Amy Cobb (Warren), Dothan; 10 grandchildren, Thomas Miller, John Wilson Miller, Luci Miller, Robert Miller, Caroline Cunningham, Amelia Cunningham, Henry Cunningham, Mary Drue Cobb, Elizabeth Cobb, and Maggie Cobb; sisters, Donna Farrior (Jim), Montgomery, AL and Linda Young (Marty), Cochran, Georgia; sister-in-law, Em Moore (Joe), Selma.
