Wallace Community College – Selma (WCCS) Educational Talent Search Coordinator Corey Bowie paid a visit to Domino’s Pizza Tuesday afternoon to present General Manager James Steele with a plaque recognizing his continuous support of the program.
Talent Search is designed to assist students in grades six-12 and out of school students in the completion of their secondary or post-secondary education.
Bowie commended Steele for his continuous support of the program, hailing him as an asset for both the Educational Talent Search Program and the community.
“It’s always important to get the community involved in educating our kids and Mr. Steele has done just that,” said Bowie. “He is active in our community and a real asset.”
Steele was elated to be the recipient of the award and said his support of WCCS comes from everyone at the community college, including Bowie, who supported him during his tenure there.
“They took me in and made me feel at home,” said Steele. “They encouraged me to want more and to reach for all I can reach for. I’m still reaching, but my time at Wallace was a good foundation.”
Steele attributed his time at Wallace for his success and called in an important part of the Queen City.
“I love Selma and Wallace is a great part of Selma,” he said. “I’m ecstatic to be a part of helping Selma grow.”
