The Dallas County Commission unanimously approved a resolution presented by County Attorney John Kelly declaring the former Regions Bank Building on Church Street the “Dallas County Courthouse Administrative Building”.
The Dallas County Commission first discussed the possibility of purchasing the building in August last year and closed on the building in January.
During the Commission’s January meeting, the governmental body agreed to temporarily name the building the “Dallas County Courthouse Building No. 2”.
Now that the Commission has approved a final name for the former Regions building, it along with the Dallas County Courthouse and J.L. Chestnut Jr. and Bruce C. Boynton Courthouse Annex will be collectively known as the “Dallas County Courthouse Complex”.
Elsewhere in the meeting, County Engineer Health Sexton gave an update on the ongoing clean-up in the aftermath of Hurricane Zeta, which struck Dallas County at the end of October last year.
According to Sexton, cleanup is going well and workers have added another site to burn collected debris on County Road 9 – in addition to the one in Valley Grande – and third site has been proposed.
