Selma Food Bank donated several pounds of dog food and cat food to the Sky Hill Animal Society last week.
Selma Food Bank Executive Director Jeff Harrison said four pallets of dog and cat food were delivered to the animal organization.
Sky Hill Animal Society Director Lynn Sanders said she appreciates the donation from Selma Food Bank.
“The donation from the Selma Food Bank was a huge unexpected blessing,” Sanders said. “Based on our average need, this is 10-12 weeks of dog food. That is 10- 12 weeks of being able to relocate the funds earmarked for food into other categories and make it where we can save more animals and help more people be able to keep their pets.”
Added Harrison: “We always look for opportunities to help those in need in the community and this is a great group that needed a hand.”
Sky Hill Animal Society offers dogs Selma Animal Shelter for adoption. They also partner with Selma Purfect Pals, who manages the cat adoption and rescue program. Dogs are chosen from the shelter by veterinarian Dr. Mark Lawrence. They are treated for health needs, including vaccination. They come to Sky Hill and cared for by volunteers until adoption.
