An Atlanta organization visited Selma on Monday afternoon.
Beyond the Bell, a youth organization based in Atlanta, crossed the Edmund Pettus Bridge, visited the St. James Hotel and Voting Rights Museum.
“We work with the children and we provide educational moments,” Beyond the Bell Executive Director Sandra Dean said. “We want the kids to know about our history and what got them here.”
Selma Tour Guide Terry Chestnut said he always enjoying seeing the younger generation visit the Queen City and learn about historical moments such as Bloody Sunday and the Voting Rights Act of 1965.
“It means so much to share the history of Selma,” Chestnut said. “I’m elated that the kids want to learn about Selma.”
