The Central Alabama Regional Child Advocacy Center will have its annual “Plant a Pinwheel Garden” Thursday at 12:15 p.m.
The Child Advocacy Center will host the National Child Abuse Prevention Month event outside the CAC office to honor and remember over 200 children involved in child abuse investigations in Dallas County last year.
Child Abuse Prevention Month has been observed each April since 1981 to raise awareness that all children deserve to grow up in a happy and healthy environment. The pinwheels, nationally recognized as a symbol for the month, will be “planted” in the outside the Child Advocacy Center and will remain in place through the end of the month. Dallas County will join thousands of other communities across our nation who are putting children first and working to promote the prevention of child abuse and neglect. Shining in the sun, the pinwheel is reflective of the bright future all children deserve.
The Central Alabama Regional Child Advocacy Center joins with the Alabama Department of Child Abuse and Neglect, the Dallas County Department of Human Resources, the United Way, local law enforcement and the District Attorney’s office to serve abused children in Dallas County.
