Savory Edge Specialty Eatery received the Hope Builders Award presented by the Drug Free Communities of Dallas County Hope Builders on Thursday.

The award is the highest honor given by the organization and awarded annually to one local business that is completely drug and substance free.

Drug Free Communities of Dallas County Director Jerria Martin presented the award to Savory Edge owner Towanna Williams. Martin said that the Hope Dealer group promotes drug and alcohol free initiatives throughout the community and in local businesses, which Williams represents.

“I’m delighted to honor Savory Edge,” Martin said. “They could’ve easily gotten a liquor license and serve alcohol, but they chose not to. We appreciate them.”

Williams said she’s grateful for the award.

“Getting the award is nice, I’m really blessed,” Williams said.
