Minter resident involved in three-vehicle crash in Lowndes County

A Minter man was involved in an accident during a three-vehicle crash in Lowndes County where two people died.
Alabama Law Enforcement Agency reports that ’Shontis Brenson, 20, of Lowndesboro was fatally injured when the 2012 Toyota Yaris she drove passed through an intersection and collided with a 2004 Ford Expedition driven by Dekota Harper, 30, of Bassfield, Mississippi. Demontres Smith, 24, of Greenville, the passenger of the Toyota Aris was injured fatally.
Brenson and Harper were both unrestrained in their respective vehicles in the accident that occurred around 2:19 p.m. Friday afternoon.
After striking the Toyota Yaris, Harper crossed the median and struck a 2020 Peterbilt dump truck driven by Thomas Bowen Jr., 51, of Minter. Brenson and Smith both succumbed to their injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
The crash occurred at the intersection of Alabama 97 and U.S. 80, approximately seven miles north of Hayneville.
No further details are available as Troopers with the ALEA Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate the accident.
