The Selma Police Department is investigating its 11th murder of the year on Monday.

According to Dallas County District Attorney Michael Jackson, an 18-year-old man’s body was killed behind the Rangedale Apartments on Marie Foster Street.

Jackson and SPD said shots fired between 11:30 a.m. and noon.

The victim had been shot twice and died from gunshot wounds at an area hospital. The victim’s identity was not revealed.

The incident remains under investigation by the SPD.

Selma has surpassed its murder total from last year.  The Queen City had 10 homicides in 2020.
