A Valley Grande resident was killed in an apparent hit and run accident on Thursday morning.

Alabama Law Enforcement Agency reports that Robert Davis Dennis, 60, of Valley Grande was struck by an unknown vehicle that left the scene of the crash.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident that occurred after midnight.

The crash occurred on U.S. 80 near the 94 mile marker, approximately 10 miles east of Selma. Dallas County District Attorney Michael Jackson said the body was discovered by an off-duty ALDOT worker near Southside High School.

No further details are available as Troopers with the ALEA Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate the accident.
