The Selma’s Blaster Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation held its Super Fund and Hunting Heritage Banquet last weekend in Valley Grande.
The Y Not Entertainment facility hosted the event.
Selma’s Blaster Chapter has earned the “Golden Gobbler Award” every year since its charter and is one of only three chapters in the nation to achieve Golden Gobbler status for 30 consecutive years.
Officials said this year was one of the lowest in the event’s history.
“We’re only half full, a lot of people stayed away because of the coronavirus,” Charles Duckett said.
But Duckett credited the Blaster Chapter’s success to the countless local sponsors: Air PRO, Alabama AG Credit, Atchison Injury Attorney, Bama Bud, Blackbelt Outdoor Advertising, Brech Marine, Bruce Dunbar, Bruce Hughes, Bush Hog, Central Alabama Farmers Co-Op, Central Alabama Soft Wash, Charles Duckett, Children’s Dentistry, Cleaner Clothes Dry Cleaning, Clearwater Solutions, Dallas Air Conditioning and Heating, Dana Hollis, Dobbins Cosby, The Downtowner, First Cahawba, Fuller Building Supply Company, George’ Paint and Body, Grindle Tire Company, H&S Wood Products, Hancock’s, Helena Chemical, Hemphill Wood, Henry Brick, Jere Peak, KFC, Klimate Kontrol, McHugh Wildlife, Middleton Farms, Nichols Deer Processing, Northside Animal Hospital, Nutrien, PalletOne, Peak Insurance, Pepsi, Ralph Hobbs, Rayco, RMJ Hauling, Ronnie Yarbrough, Rountree Outdoors, Screenco, SELCOM, Smith Enterpirses of Alabama, South Land Company, Trustmark, Tucker Family Dentistry, TW Orthodonics, Vasser’s.
