A Selma teenager died Monday afternoon from a gunshot wound.
Selma Police Chief Kenta Fulford and Dallas County District Attorney Michael Jackson both confirmed that Michael Stiles was a gunshot victim and later died at Vaughan Regional Medical Center.
Fulford said the shooting occurred around 3:15 p.m. Monday in the area of J.L. Chestnut Street and King Street. Jackson said that Stiles was sitting in a car with another person when he got shot. Fulford said that SPD officers responded to a gunshot victim at VRMC and Stiles was pronounced dead.
Fulford said there are no suspects at this time as the incident remains under investigation by the SPD.
This is the 17th murder in Selma for 2021, including the second over the past 10 days.
