The Valley Grande City Council passed three resolutions at its city council meetings on Monday night.

Mayor Wayne Labbe, council members Kay Davidson, Sara Day, Jane Harris and Robbie Rose  and Clerk/Treasurer were present. Councilman Bruce Hughes was absent because his wife has COVID.

Resolution 2021-137, the TAP Grant Engineering Selection allows Southeast LLC and Will Barrett to work on the sidewalk.

Labbe said the project will be completed within the next two years.

Resolution 2021-138 TAP Grant Agreement with the State of Alabama signals the start to work on County Road 16 and County Road 81 roads.

The council approved the Candace Allen Subdivision plan.

In compliance with City of Valley Grande Ordinance 2009-57, a public hearing was held on September 27 to discuss the preliminary plat for the proposed Candace Allen subdivision. A notice of the hearing was sent to all adjoining landowners as their names appeared on the plats in the Dallas County tax accessor’s office.

The preliminary plat met the requirements for submittal that was set forth in Ordinance 2009-57 submitted by Allen to the city council.

None of the residents spoke to the council, who approved the proposed subdivision on Monday.

The council finalized plans for Saturday’s Fall Festival, which will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Valley Grande City Park.

The next city council meeting will be held at 6 p.m. on October 18 at Valley Grande City Hall.
