Spire President Joe Hampton was given the key to the city of Selma last month by Selma Mayor James Perkins Jr.
Perkins presented the key to Hampton on Sept. 21, appreciating his support of the Queen City.
“The key to our city represents the gateway into the heart of our beloved Selma. Sharing the key with Joe reflects the strong public-private partnership he has helped build with us over time, as well as his commitment of support going forward,” Perkins said.
“We look forward to the opportunities that will continue to come from this partnership. Together, we can do more to support the city of Selma. Spire is always welcomed here.”
Hampton, president of Spire Alabama, Gulf Coast and Mississippi, has supported Selma in numerous events.
Hampton did yard maintenance and provided lunch for staff at Clark Elementary School, preparing meals at the Bosco Nutrition Center, and partnering with the Dallas County Family Resource Center to feed families during the holidays.
“It is truly an honor to receive the key to the city of Selma from Mayor Perkins,” Hampton said. “Receiving the key encourages me to continue to work diligently to find ways to support Selma. It encourages me to make a difference at Spire and in my community.”
