3 finalists picked for Dallas County District Judge vacancy

The Dallas County Judicial Commission have selected three nominees for appointment to fill the vacant Dallas County District Court Judge position.
Margaret Mitchell, Esq., David Norton, Esq. and Vernetta Perkins, Esq. are the finalists selected to replace Bob Armstrong, who retired this month.
The three names are sent to Governor Kay Ivey, who will choose Armstrong’s successor over the next 60 days to complete the rest of his term.
The Dallas County Judicial Commission consist of: Maggie Drake-Peterson, Chair; Judge Collins Pettaway, Vice-Chair; Attorney P Vaughn Russell, Derrick Moore and Attorney Elizabeth Hollie.
The DCJC was formed by selecting members from the Dallas County community. Two non-lawyers were chosen by the legislators representing Dallas County. Senator Malika Fortier selected Derrick Moore, Rep. Prince Chestnut selected Maggie Drake-Peterson, the Dallas County Bar Association selected both P. Vaughn Russell and Elizabeth Hollie and the Circuit Judges selected Collins Pettaway to serve on the Commission.
Drake-Peterson said that Ivey has a good group to choose from.
“All of the candidates are well-qualified. the Dallas County Judicial Commission are please to submit these names to the Governor.,” Drake-Peterson said.
