Another suspect was arrested in the death of Selma Police Officer Marquis Moorer.
Andrevious Quinton Carter, 22, was charged with capital murder, murder of a police officer and attempted murder on Monday, according to Dallas County District Attorney Michael Jackson. Carter was arraigned for capital murder and attempted murder on Wednesday in the Dallas County Courthouse.
Carter remains in jail under no bail. Jackson did not reveal the location of Carter’s jail. His preliminary hearing date is scheduled for November 30 at 1:30 p.m. in the Dallas County Courthouse.
Carter is also charged with attempted murder in the wounding of Moorer’s girlfriend, Shakiaria Barley, who was shot in the leg at Selma Square Apartments. He’s the second suspect charged in Moorer’s death.
The other suspect charged in Moorer’s death, Javonte Stubbs, 19, a former Selma High football star, was arrested at the Links Apartment in Tuscaloosa on July 28, the day after Moorer was killed. Stubbs was arraigned in the Dallas County Courthouse last month.
The motive for the fatal shooting remains unknown. Authorities said Moorer was found in his bedroom with a gunshot wound to the chest. Over 12 rounds were fired into the apartment.
The ALEA State Bureau of Investigation is handling the case.
