The Wallace Community College-Selma women’s basketball team chose a food giveaway for its Community Service Project.
The Lady Patriots teamed up with Gospel Tabernacle Church and the Son Light Center to prepare 120 food boxes for the food giveaway this week at Block Park.
The WCCS players who participated were: Deniyah McMillian, Toniah Foster, Janiya Jones, Airriana Colley, Jayla Webb, Breanna Smith, Aja Wiltshire.
Assistant coach Yulonda Rudolph also participated in the volunteer session.
Gospel Tabernacle Pastor John E. Grayson said he appreciated the Lady Patriots taking time out of their busy schedule to help out.
“A big “Thank You” to Coach Yolanda Randolph and the Wallace Community College Selma Girls Basketball Team for volunteering at Son Light Center Food Distribution Center,” Grayson said.
Herman Turner is WCCS head women’s basketball coach. Ashley Grimes is volunteer assistant coach.
Foster averaged 10.4 points and 11 assists a game, earning second-team All-South Division honors.
WCCS went 6-13 last year, but made the Alabama Community College Conference tournament. They lost to eventual champion Shelton State CC.
