Selma Police investigating two murders that occurred over Thanksgiving weekend

The Selma Police Department is investigating two murders that occurred over the Thanksgiving weekend.
Selma Police Chief Kenta Fulford said the first incident took place around 8:40 p.m. on Friday, November 26 at Minter Terrance Apartments. The Selma Police Department identified the victim as Michael Blevins, 30.
“Officers were dispatched to Minter Terrance Apartments in reference to a gunshot victim,” Fulford said. “Upon arrival, officers discovered Michael Blevins suffered gunshot wounds and was pronounced deceased.”
The second fatal shooting occurred four hours later at the Selma Avenue Sports Bar and Grill, owned by Selma City Councilman Michael Johnson.
Fulford said the SPD arrived and found a black male, 38, suffering from gunshot wound around 1:30 a.m. Saturday morning. The victim’s identity was not revealed.
Fulford said both incident remain under investigation by the SPD.
These are the 20th murders for Selma in 2021.
