The Selma Housing Authority landed a six-figure grant from the Resident Opportunities and Self-Sufficiency (R.O.S.S.).
The $235,372 grant from R.O.S.S. will connect SHA residents to services and activities, giving them chances to progress and succeed towards financial independence and home ownership.
The purpose of the R.O.S.S. program is to provide funding for onboard Service Coordinators. They will coordinate accessible resources in the city of Selma and other areas. They will assist and guide SHA residents with the best utilization of available resources. The goal of the R.O.S.S. program is to promote participants’ development, allowing them to grow their income, reduce or eliminate the need for financial assistance, and home ownership.
“The ROSS program is designed to benefit all our residents,” SHA President/CEO Kennard Randolph said. “We are excited to see our residents given the opportunity to move towards financial independency and home ownership in the city of Selma and beyond.”
Added SHA Director of Resident Services Louis B. Armstrong: “Not only will we see progress among our residents, but in particular, our most vulnerable population in Selma, Alabama…our elderly population. “These individuals are often forgotten or pushed aside. We wishto focus on them especially.”
